 Original Paintings  by Derek Seddon

After my retirement of over 32 years of  employment in the pulp and paper industry,  it was now time for me to sit back and enjoy the passion of painting in my studio.

My wife and I are now enjoying travelling to historic places that are giving me inspiration to paint at my leisure and not

encumbered with work that took me away on assignments with no time to paint.

Inspired by English painters at the turn of the century such as Turner and Constable, I enjoy painting turbulent skies, historic castles and country scenes.  Having travelled with a sketch book to Rome, Paris, London, Athens and Ireland, it has been a joy and privilege to have seen these sites and return home to my studio to paint from these sketches.

I would like to thank the Arts Council for the opportunity to  showcase my work, and the many friends who  over the years have encouraged me to paint. I am very fortunate to live in    Canada,  and have the luxury of fulfilling my dream; to paint.

Landscapes Near and Far

I am very excited to share with everyone, exciting news about the next artists at the Rollin Art Centre. My own dad, Derek Seddon, a well-known Vancouver artist will be showcasing his collection of paintings, mostly watercolor with a few oils.

The title of this exhibit is “Landscapes, Near and Far”, tells the story of his travels through-out Europe and the US. Derek is an accomplished artist, who’s also credited for co-establishing “Paintings in the Park” in Stanley Park Vancouver, which continues successfully to this day.
