The Grove

The Community Arts Council of the Alberni Valley (affectionately known as ‘The Grove’), exists to enhance the quality of life in our community by promoting the arts. This is accomplished through:

  • Arts Education and Information
  • Provision & support of quality programming services and events in all facets of the arts
  • Participation in the preservation, planning and development of cultural facilities and institutions
  • Contributing to the development of cultural policies at the local, regional, provincial and national levels

Upcoming Exhibit

“When Colour Speaks to you – IGNITE YOUR IMAGINATION” is the theme and title of our Spring Art exhibit at the Grove Art Gallery. If you are interested in submitting, up to three pieces, for this unique art exhibit, stop by the Grove Art Gallery for details. This art exhibit is open to all artists, in any medium. A great way to stylize a piece of art to ignite your imagination! “When Colour Speaks to you – IGNITE YOUR IMAGINATION” begins March 26th and runs until April 26th . Application forms are available at the Grove Art Gallery, #7-5440 Argyle Street, Harbour Quay, or Apply Here  Artists are allowed to submit up to three pieces, fee $10.00 per submission payable on phone or in person at The Grove Art Gallery 250-724-3412.

TWO-DAY BEGINER PAVERPOL WORKSHOP WITH CHERYL FREHLICH
Come and express your creativity by immersing yourself in this exciting new medium. Paverpol is a environmentally safe textile hardener which endures the outdoors. In this course you will learn to create a sculpture using unique materials and techniques. Join Cheryl, a certified instructor of Paverpol, Saturday March 16 from 10:30-3:30 & Sat March 23 from 10:30 – 3:30, at the Grove Art Gallery, for another creative and imaginative workshop. Cost is $165 and includes most supplies. Space is limited, so register today by calling 250-724-3412.

MAKING WAVES – Acrylic Painting workshop – April 13, 10-2:30 pm - $125.00
Whether you are making crashing waves, soft tide ripples, or swirling water, you will get into the rhythm of painting water works. Join Susan Schaefer for this one-day class, and let’s 'Make Some Waves.'

Events

CELEBRATE SONG WITH THE COMMUNITY ARTS COUNCIL
The Community Arts Council will be holding a special spring concert, with special guests, the Greater Victoria Police Chorus. Join us for an afternoon of song and help raise funds for the arts in our community. Sunday April 14th at the ADSS Auditorium. From 2 – 4 pm, tickets $30.00 and are available at the Grove Arts Gallery, located at the Harbour Quay.
